1. Who we are

Pickleball Rules Quiz is published by Bonjour Pickleball, an independent project created by Carole Stromboni.

2. Data stored on your device

Pickleball Rules Quiz stores game data only in your browser's localStorage to make the game work. This includes progress, scores, mistakes, game history, feature states, and device-local full access activation data.

This data:

  • never leaves your device automatically
  • is not sent to our servers
  • can be deleted at any time by clearing your browser storage

Legal basis: performance of the service (Article 6.1.b GDPR). This does not cover the optional public leaderboard — see Section 3.

3. Leaderboard (optional)

If you choose to join the public leaderboard, Pickleball Rules Quiz sends your nickname, a device-generated identifier, and gameplay data for that run (score, duration, and per-question answers) to our leaderboard service, hosted on Cloudflare (Workers and a D1 database).

Your nickname is displayed publicly on the leaderboard. Cloudflare also processes your IP address to prevent abuse and enforce rate limits.

Joining the leaderboard is entirely optional. You can leave at any time using the "Leave leaderboard" option in the app, which deletes your leaderboard entry.

Separately, if you enter a device unlock code (including trial codes we sometimes distribute), the app sends the same device-generated identifier and the code you entered to the same Cloudflare service, to enforce a usage limit and prevent abuse. This happens whether or not you join the public leaderboard, and this record is independent of — and not deleted by — leaving the leaderboard.

4. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. When you pay, Stripe collects data such as your email address, payment details, IP address, and device information.

Legal basis: performance of a contract (Article 6.1.b GDPR).
Stripe may transfer data outside the EU using Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. Emails and optional forms

If you contact us, choose to share gameplay statistics by email, or submit an optional signup form, we receive your email address and any content you send.

These actions are voluntary. Any optional form may be provided by a third-party email platform acting under its own terms and privacy policy.

6. Data retention

Game data stored in your browser remains until you delete it. Leaderboard entries are kept until you leave the leaderboard or request deletion. Device-unlock-code redemption records (Section 3) are kept indefinitely and are not affected by leaving the leaderboard; contact us to request deletion. Emails are kept only as long as necessary to handle your request.

7. Cookies and tracking

We use GoatCounter for privacy-friendly website analytics. GoatCounter does not use tracking cookies and does not create persistent visitor profiles. We use it only to understand basic page traffic and improve the service.

Pickleball Rules Quiz does not use advertising trackers. Stripe may set cookies during checkout under its own responsibility.

Our hosting provider may process standard server logs, such as IP address and timestamp, for security and reliability purposes only.

8. Your rights

You have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data, and to object to processing where applicable.
